Yoga in Park
next Summer!
A short introduction to my Yoga...
I did my Teachers’ Training Course for Yoga at the Sivananda
Yoga Ashram in Madurai, India. The term "English yoga" refers solely
to the fact that I have been teaching yoga in English. Although my German is
quite good, I find it until now easier to teach in my second language .... I
also thought that maybe there are a few English speaking people in Augsburg,
who want to learn Yoga. Or people, who apart from learning yoga, would also
like to improve their English!
From my understanding, knowledge and life experiences, I decided to practice
Sivananda Yoga. It is also called the „Yoga of Synthesis“ or „Integral
Yoga" because it has a holistic approach and combines different paths of
yoga together.
In the yoga classes, we focus only on one part of the whole philosophy of yoga,
called asanas. Yoga asanas are postures that are performed slowly and
meditatively. Conscious and correct breathing plays a major role. Similarly,
adequate and proper relaxation is practised before, after and in between the
asanas.
... and what you could probably gain from Yoga:
The yoga postures strengthen not only the body but also have a positive effect on the mind and the soul. Yoga asanas make the spine and joints flexible and strengthen muscles, glands and internal organs. The body is strengthened and streamlined. The regular practice of yoga asanas awakens the unconscious reserves of energy and leads to a new body-being. It frees you from fear and can help build your confidence and positive composure.
